Message:Ted is OK and so is Lucille. Today we rode back up to Balfour and waited an hour to cross the ferry. On the other side we pulled over until the ferry was ready to return before taking off on Destination Highway #1.

Lucille has learned the dance and performed well and had fun. We stopped for Lunch in Creston, and continued on to Invermere to meet friends for supper and a beer after tucking in the girls for the night.

We had a very chilly ride up the Slocan back to New Denver where we stopped for a bowl of soup. We then continued up to Nakusp and enjoyed the Hot Springs there for a few hours. We returned to Nelson via Kaslo once again to enjoy that twisty road one last time. Thai food with a friend finished off the day.

Tomorrow we plan to ride the ferry at Balfour and ride the #1 destination highway down to Creston and continue to Cranbrook for the night.

Day 3 was an on and off rainy cool day. All we managed on the bikes was half way back to New Denver and back to Kaslo. It was easy to fill the rest of the day at our luxury room and the sights of Kaslo.

Today we rode back to New Denver for breakfast and then back to Kaslo and on to Ainsworth Hot Springs. After a couple hours there and lunch we continued to Nelson where we will stay for two nights. Meeting a friend shortly for the evening.

Thank goodness for Gerbing for those September cool morning rides.

Day 2 - Kaslo

Arrived in Kaslo in light rain and settled in. Today was a generally nice ride full of new riding experiences for Lucille. Trying to explain things like entering corners and hitting the apex are eventually learned. Nothing like a road where this is needed to reinforce the lessons. We took it nice and slow, but it was raining after all, so speed would not be our friend.

We are settled in at the beautiful Kaslo Hotel for one, and perhaps two nights. We will see what the weather brings in the morning.

By the way, Gerbing jacket liners are the best investment touring motorcyclists can make.

As good as this trip has been it is good to be back home and a busy long weekend ahead. I've got to scrub the road off the bike, do some laundry and yard work, and get Lucille's Suzuki ready for trade/sale.

It's just a run for home now. We arrived in Dawson Creek to make it official. We travelled the entire Alaska Highway on our way back and arrived at Mile Zero today. Tomorrow will be a long run for home.

Day 16 - Skagway

Today the whole group ended up going down to Dkagway for a visit through the shops, lunch, some history, and some breathtaking scenery.

Some rode the bikes down but nine of us took a combined bus/train trip down the white pass line. It was a real intimate connection with the territory we were traveling through and a trip
I would recommend.

We gathered back at the hotel in Whitehorse for supper and after a nightcap, we are turning in for the night.
